- IGDB (Twitch Interactive) – Spielmetadaten, Cover, Plattformen, Genres. Datenschutz
- PriceCharting – Marktpreise. Datenschutz
- Steam (Valve) – zwei optionale Import-/Erfolge-Wege:
9. App-Bewertung
14. Deine Rechte
Du hast jederzeit das Recht auf:
- Auskunft (Art. 15 DSGVO),
- Berichtigung (Art. 16 DSGVO),
- Löschung (Art. 17 DSGVO),
- Einschränkung der Verarbeitung (Art. 18 DSGVO),
- Datenübertragbarkeit (Art. 20 DSGVO),
- Widerspruch (Art. 21 DSGVO),
- Widerruf erteilter Einwilligungen (Art. 7 Abs. 3 DSGVO),
Privacy Policy
This privacy policy applies to the iOS and Android apps Gamekeep. It explains what personal data is processed, for what purpose, on what legal basis, and what rights you have. Gamekeep is designed as a privacy-first app: your game collection belongs to you. It is not transmitted to us and is never used for advertising or tracking. Platform differences are called out in the relevant sections.
1. Data Controller
Pixel Project
Owner: Pixel Project
Email: gamekeep@pixel-project.de
Web: pixel-project.de
2. How your data is stored
iOS: Gamekeep stores your collection locally on your iPhone/iPad in a Core Data database. If you are signed in to iCloud and have iCloud enabled for Gamekeep, the data is additionally synced through Apple CloudKit in your personal iCloud container. We have no access to this data at any point — it lives exclusively in your iCloud account and on your devices.
- iCloud container:
iCloud.de.pixel-project.Gamekeep.Gamekeep - Storage location: your device and your private iCloud database (Apple)
- Retention: as long as you use the app — you can delete all data at any time in the app or via iOS settings.
Android: Gamekeep stores your collection locally on your device (Room/SQLite database). Optionally, you can enable Google Drive sync in Settings. Gamekeep then stores a snapshot of your library (collections, games, profile) in the hidden app data folder of your Google account (drive.appdata). Pixel Project never has access to this file — it lives only in your Google account and on your devices. Without this option, or after you sign out, the library stays on-device only. Uninstalling the app removes local data unless you exported it first (e.g. as CSV). Data in the Drive app-data folder remains in your Google account until you remove it via Google Drive settings (Manage apps) or Google deletes the app’s data.
3. Data you enter yourself
The following data is processed only when you actively enter it:
- Titles, platforms, notes, ratings, completion progress, status values, custom purchase prices and market values for your games.
- Optional cover images and attachments (e.g. your own photos).
- An optional profile with nickname and avatar (15 preset gaming avatars or a photo from your library). Avatar and nickname are shown as the collection owner. iOS only: in shared collections they are synced to invited members via CloudKit; custom photos are transmitted as a compressed preview image. Android: the profile stays on the device; if Google Drive sync is enabled, also in your Google account’s app-data folder.
- iOS only: optional member lists in shared collections.
- An optional SteamID64 for the Achievements section and Steam library import (see section 5). The ID is stored locally on your device. iOS only: if iCloud Key-Value sync is enabled, also in your iCloud KVS so it stays available across your Apple devices.
- In Achievements: local marks, tags, favorites, and notes on Steam achievements (on your device only).
- In Free & Subs: providers you enable, notification settings, offers marked as claimed, and a local offer cache (on your device only).
4. Sharing collections
iOS (CloudKit Sharing): When you share a collection, iOS creates an Apple CloudKit share link. Only people who receive this link from you and who are signed in to iCloud can access the collection. Pixel Project never has access to shared collections. Sharing only involves the following technical fields:
- Apple user record ID of participants (an anonymous identifier provided by Apple).
- Display names suggested by the Apple server, if available.
- A nickname you choose, an avatar preset, or a compressed avatar preview (for custom photos) so members can recognize you in the collection.
- Roles and permissions of participants (owner, editor, reader).
Android: There is no live sharing of collections. You can export a collection or the library as a CSV file and share it yourself. The file leaves your device only when you send it via the system share sheet; Pixel Project does not receive it.
5. Third-party data sources
On request, Gamekeep enriches your collection with game information from third-party providers. We only send the search query (e.g. a game title or barcode) to the relevant provider — never your collection or personal data:
- IGDB (Twitch Interactive) – game metadata, covers, platforms, genres. Privacy
- ScanDex – mapping EAN/UPC barcodes to IGDB IDs. scandex.gamery.app
- PriceCharting – market prices. Privacy
- Steam (Valve) – two optional import/achievements paths:
- Licenses page: the classic Steam import opens the official Steam licenses page inside a WebView. Sign-in happens directly between you and Valve. We only read the resulting list of your purchases (title, purchase date) locally on your device.
- SteamID64: if you enter your SteamID64, Gamekeep calls the public Steam Web API through our API proxy (
api.pixel-project.de/steam) (e.g. game library, achievement progress, profile summary). This transmits the SteamID64 you entered and, depending on the request, Steam app IDs. The Steam API key stays on our server; Pixel Project uses these requests only for technical forwarding, not for advertising or profiling. Valve privacy
- Steam Hunters – groups Steam achievements (base game vs. DLC/updates) by Steam app ID. No SteamID64 is sent to Steam Hunters. steamhunters.com
- PSN CSV import – you pick a CSV file yourself (e.g. exported via the “rb4.app PSN Library Exporter” browser add-on). We process it locally on your device only.
- Free & Subs – on request, Gamekeep loads public free games, giveaways, and subscription catalogs from third parties (e.g. Epic Games Store, Steam Store, GOG, GamerPower, Prime Gaming, PlayStation Plus, Xbox Game Pass, Humble Choice, Ubisoft+, Apple Arcade, Netflix Games). We typically send only region and search parameters (e.g. game titles for cover matching via IGDB), never your collection or Steam ID. Offers are cached locally. We prefer our Offers proxy (
api.pixel-project.de/offers); alternatively or additionally, individual provider APIs may be queried directly from your device. GamerPower
6. App purchase
On both platforms Gamekeep is a one-time purchase. The app itself has no in-app purchases and no subscription.
- iOS: billing is handled by the Apple App Store. Pixel Project does not receive payment data, your Apple ID, or your name — only anonymous sales statistics under Apple’s developer terms.
- Android: billing is handled by Google Play. Pixel Project does not receive payment data or your Google account — only anonymous sales statistics under Google Play’s developer terms.
7. Feedback, bug reports, and debug logs
If you use “Feedback” or “Email debug log” in Settings, we open your device’s system mail function pre-filled with technical data:
- App version, build number, and OS version (iOS or Android).
- Whether optional services are configured (e.g. IGDB, Steam proxy, ScanDex) and app settings you chose (language, appearance, Achievements tab).
- iOS only: device model, sync state values (e.g. “shared store loaded: yes/no”), internal diagnostic logs, and your CloudKit participant display name when needed.
- Any text and images/videos you add yourself.
You decide in each case whether to actually send the message. The recipient is gamekeep@pixel-project.de. We use the email solely to handle your request and delete it once resolved (at the latest after 12 months).
8. Notifications
Gamekeep can optionally notify you about new free games or offers ending soon:
- Local notifications – scheduled on your device when you enable the feature in Settings. No collection data is sent to us.
- iOS – push token (APNs): to prepare offer push notifications technically, the device token may be sent to our Offers proxy (
api.pixel-project.de/offers/devices). You can disable push notifications in iOS system settings. - Android – install identifier: to prepare offer alerts technically, a random installation ID (not a Google account, not an advertising ID) may be sent with the platform value
androidto the same Offers proxy. You can disable app notifications in Android system settings.
9. App rating
“Rate Gamekeep” only opens the respective store’s system rating UI (Apple’s in-app prompt or the Google Play listing). Pixel Project does not learn whether you submitted a rating.
10. Analytics, tracking, advertising
Gamekeep contains no trackers, no analytics SDK, no advertising platforms, and no third-party code for user profiling. No advertising identifier is read (neither Apple’s IDFA nor Google’s Advertising ID).
11. Legal bases (GDPR)
- Art. 6 (1)(b) GDPR – performance of the user agreement (providing the app’s features; on iOS also sync and shared collections; on Android optional Google Drive sync when you enable it).
- Art. 6 (1)(a) GDPR – explicit consent when you submit feedback or debug logs.
- Art. 6 (1)(f) GDPR – legitimate interest in error diagnostics and security.
12. Recipients / processors
- Apple Distribution International Ltd. (iCloud, App Store) – if you use the iOS app; processor under Apple’s standard terms.
- Google Ireland Limited / Google LLC (Google Play; optional Google Drive app-data folder) – Google Play when you obtain the Android app; Google Drive only if you enable optional library sync. Pixel Project cannot read the Drive file. Processing under Google’s terms. Google privacy
- Pixel Project (API proxy
api.pixel-project.defor IGDB, ScanDex, Steam Web API, and Offers) – only when you actively use the corresponding feature. - IGDB / Twitch Interactive, ScanDex / Gamery, PriceCharting – only when you actively use the corresponding feature.
- Valve / Steam, Steam Hunters, GamerPower, and other store/subscription providers in Free & Subs – only when you actively use them; usually without sending your collection or Steam ID (exception: SteamID64 you enter, via our Steam proxy).
13. Retention
Your collection stays on your device until you delete the app or manually remove the data inside Gamekeep. On iOS it also stays in your iCloud account while sync is enabled. On Android it also stays in your Google Drive app-data folder while optional sync is enabled. Diagnostic emails are deleted once resolved (max. 12 months). Apple and Google retain statistical order data according to their own retention periods. The optional Android installation ID or iOS APNs token at the Offers proxy is used only for offer alerts and is deleted if you switch apps or request deletion.
14. Your rights
You have the right at any time to:
- access (Art. 15 GDPR),
- rectification (Art. 16 GDPR),
- erasure (Art. 17 GDPR),
- restriction of processing (Art. 18 GDPR),
- data portability (Art. 20 GDPR),
- object (Art. 21 GDPR),
- withdraw consent (Art. 7(3) GDPR),
- lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR), e.g. the data protection authority responsible for your residence.
For an access or deletion request, a short email to gamekeep@pixel-project.de is enough.
15. Children
Gamekeep is not specifically directed at children under the age of 13. For minors’ accounts, Apple’s Family Sharing rules apply on iOS and Google Play family features apply on Android.
16. Changes to this policy
We may update this privacy policy when technical or legal changes require it. The current version applies to iOS and Android and is accessible in both apps under “Settings → Legal → Privacy policy”.
