FAQ

Simulation vs. real backup

Simulation plans changes but writes nothing. For GitHub it shows planned files; a real run performs commit and push.

GitHub: Repository not found

Check owner/repository, save a PAT with the repo scope (classic) or sufficient fine-grained permissions, and enable “Create repository if missing”.

GitHub: Push rejected (fetch first)

FoldSync tries to integrate remote commits. If histories diverge strongly, allow and confirm force-push in the destination options (only for dedicated backup repos).

Encryption and GitHub

Optional AES encryption is not applied to GitHub destinations — Git needs plain files. Other destinations in the same job can still be encrypted.

Folder access / stale bookmark

If a volume is missing or sandbox access expired, pick the folder again (“Re-pick”).

Subscription / trial

Purchases go through the Mac App Store (Apple). If licensing looks wrong, check App Store purchases first, then contact us.
